Mary looked down at the slimy puddle of yellow blood that had flowed around the giant mosquito. Mary grimaced as she stepped over the puddle, getting a little on her shoe.
"Dammit", She muttered to herself, "I'll never get this mess cleaned up."
As she said it, she heard a noise downstairs. Something made a heavy thump, as if a table had fallen over. Mary stood rigid with fear in the hallway, wondering what the sound was. A quieter series of thumps could be heard, moving around the living room.
Mary stood transfixed as she listened to the thumping moving around. There was definetly something else in the house with her. Visions of huge insects, spiders and grotesque monsters flipped through her mind. God only knows what trouble those vials had been causing while she was fighting off the giant bug up here.
"Shit..", she said under her breath, "how am I going to get BIG again? I'll never make it past another one of these things..."
She looked down at her feet and noticed the blood, still slowly running out of the giant insect onto the floor. The carpet where it had pooled seemed, thicker, bigger than the rest. Suddenly she was struck with an idea... If there was still some of the magic serum in the mosquito's blood...
Mary twisted her face into a grimace as the idea occured to her, almost turning away in disgust, but just then another thump sounded from downstairs.
Mary dashed into the bathroom and grabbed the first-aid kit. She dumped the contents onto the floor and ran back to the mosquito, collecting some of the thick blood in the empty case.
"I sure hope this works", she thought to herself.
In one quick motion she tipped the improvised cup backwards and took three huge mouthfuls of the blood.
It tasted terrible at first, and Mary stopped. Coughing and sputtering she almost dropped her case, feeling utterly sick to her stomach. But then she noticed a warm feeling radiating from her body, and she felt herself stretch upwards a little. Her bandage grew a little tighter around her arm and she couldn't help but smile a bit.
"Its working!", she exclaimed to herself.
Mary was nearly a half-foot taller, and begining to feel a little bit better about things. Another thump from downstairs could be heard though, draining a little of her confidence. She looked back at the tin of blood and supressed a wave of nausea. She'd have to drink some more if she wanted to be back to her original size, and ready to tackle whatever was downstairs...
