You go back to your locker, and change into your college running gear. It's all imprinted with your name and number. You grin, you like this new reality, but you're really curious to find out what will happen to Luke.
After all, even if he meant to turn you into his jersey forever, he did break your curse. You are human standing in the moonlight. You begin jogging over toward Dirk's place. You know where he lives because Luke used to jog by Dirk's place every day while wearing you when you were his jersey.
You hear barking as you approach, and come to a stop. You approach under the cover of bushes. You can see Dirk is playing with Luke in his yard. He tosses a tennis ball, and Luke retrieves it. They look so happy together. You grin. Just hours ago, Dirk had glared with anger and jealousy at Luke as the champagne was poured over his head.
You stand in the cold for about 20 minutes until Dirk takes Luke inside. You're muscles are twitching for action. You've been inanimate for so long. You decide to go for a run. You run and run and run. Hours pass. You run out to the reservoir and back. As the skies turn grey as prelude to the sunrise, you look up to see the giant full moon starting to set behind the mountains to the west of town. You look around and realize you're about four blocks from Dirk's place.
Biting your lip, you make your decision. You run over to Dirk's place. Climbing up on a planter box you peer through Dirk's bedroom window. He's asleep in bed with his arms draped over his sleeping dog Luke. The moon is setting, you stare at the two sleeping males, and bite your lip. Will the dog change back into Luke, or will he remain a dog.
An early morning breeze makes you shiver as a branch of the adjacent bush scrapes against your bare back. Your eyes widen, weren't you wearing a t-shirt? The cool breeze blows between your legs. You swallow hard.
