The officer got on her walkie, "Hayes, get in here, would ya?" She looked at Deirdre, "My partner will be inside in another minute or two, she's just containing the primal."
"What the HELL is a primal?" asked Deirdre, "You people make no sense!"
The door opened, and another officer walked in, this one a tall woman with curly brown hair. "A primal is a subtype of werewolf, ma'am."
Deirdre laughed. "You've got to be kidding me," she said, "I want your supervisor's name, and I want both of you to give me your badge numbers."
"Ma'am," the first officer said, "I felt the same way when I came here. None of it made sense to me either, but just sit tight and we'll explain everything."
"With more bullshit about WEREWOLVES?" Deirdre replied.
"Ma'am," the second officer said, "We may have saved your life tonight. That man was a known primal. They're certainly not known for their control."
"There's NO SUCH THING AS WEREWOLVES!" Deirdre shrieked.
"That's what most people think, but they're wrong," said the taller officer, "and if you'd just shut up, we'll explain everything."
"That's it-I've heard enough," Deirdre said, standing up, "I want both of your badge numbers, and then I want you to leave."
"Not gonna happen, human," snarled the first officer, shoving her effortlessly back down onto the couch.
"Bring it down a notch, Jackson," Officer Hayes said, but with a smirk. "We're on directive two." Jackson calmed for a moment, nodded and backed off. Still, Jackson's actions had their desired intent; Deirdre sat fearful and cowed on the couch, not even thinking about leaving or even moving.
"Primals refuse to use any chemical or technology to control their animalistic side, saying it's unnatural. This results in what you had on your hands tonight- someone who's largely out of control when the full moon is out," Hayes said, taking over the exposition. "Thanks to technology, however, the vast majority of the werewolves in Lupine Falls are able to live without fear of the moonlight ruining a perfectly good evening. Observe." She opened the curtains, bathing the room in moonlight. Nothing happened.
"Traditionally, a werewolf exposed to the full moon would be in the throes of transformation right now, but thanks to a handful of small pieces of technology, we're able to resist the call of our animal side."
"You're telling me you're werewolves too?" Deirdre asked.
"Not just that," Jackson said, laughing, "You're gonna be one too." Deirdre again tried to get off the couch, a whimper escaping her throat. Jackson slammed her back down again. "Ohhh....you're gonna be a fun one," she said. "Hayes, let's get this party started!"
