My name is Anne Marie Ericson. My mother is Katherine Ericson and as for my father, well let's just leave it at that he left before I was born. Currently I'm staying with Aunt Ashley because mother is looking for another job.
I'm thirteen years old and attend Thomas Jefferson Junior High. At the moment I'm walking home alone. Really depressed because I'd blown try-outs for the squad, to awkward to be one of the cheerleaders and to brainy to be one of the popular girls, sometimes I wish that I could find a way to change my life.
A car passes and I hear laughter and then someone calls out, "Hey, look everyone. It's nerdy little Anne. Does the geek want to try out to be something she'll never be?" This is followed by more laughter and then the squeal of tires.
Knowing that this was Britney, the most stuck, snobbish girl in the whole school, I shift my backpack and continue on my way back to my Aunt's place. It was then that I saw it. It was lying on the sidewalk, partially buried beneath a pile of leaves. I would have missed it completely, except the Autumn sun glinted off the copper surface and chain.
Picking it up, I saw that it was an amulet. On one side was the word Zulo, whatever that meant. On the other side was a human that look both male and female as well as showing several aspects of bestial traits. Pocketing the medallion, I figured that that a bit of research was called for via the internet.
Back at my Aunt's place, I called out, "Aunt Ashley, I'm home," but got no reply. Figuring that she was still at work, I dropped my backpack in the front hall, hung up my coat and kicked off my shoes.
Heading for the kitchen I make myself a snack and began heading to my way to the room I was given to use while mother was looking for a job. Setting the sandwich down, I take from my pocket the amulet and hang it with the rest of my jewelry. I was just about to boot up the computer when I stopped when my reflection caught my eye.
Reflected back is a pale thirteen year old girl. I have long dark red hair that falls past my shoulders and have the same bluish coloured eyes as Aunt Ashley; something mother says is a trait also shared with some great grandmother. At a height of five foot one, I barely grace one hundred pounds. Unhappy with my appearance, I turn my attention to the computer and afternoon snack.
After an hour of searching, I find that the medallion is called the Amulet of Zulo and can transform a person into another person, an animal or I can change me into a male version of my current sex and gender. The downside was that I had to wait twenty-four to forty-eight hours before I could change back. Plus I could not become pregnant, something I really didn't want anyway, or suffer any type of bodily harm; whether Mental, Physical or Emotional.
If either one of those two instances occurred, I would find transforming back to my former self impossible. Along with this, there was also a warning not to break the amulet and disrupt the magick. Excepting this, I sat back and looking at the Amulet of Zulo and asked myself, "What should I transform into?"
