After carefully counting out her remaining currency, she neatly picked up the coins with her talons, placing them back in the bag, drawing the string shut. Her newfound agility with her talons was impressive. As she finished cleaning up, about to pick up the pouch again, an idea popped into her head. A drawstring.. a string!
Andrew narrowed her keen eyes and spotted just what she had been looking for, a loose vine dangling from some nearby foliage. Snatching it with a talon she trotted back over to the rock she had counted her money on, sitting down and using her wingtips and talons to secure a crude sling to hold the pouch by her side, the make-shift strap slung over one shoulder.
She was getting hungry now and figured town was about six or seven more hours of walking. Andrew, pleased with her modified pouch, start to jog at a decent pace, thankful this wasn't her world as this was embarrassing being completely nude like this. First stop in town would be to get some clothes she nodded solemnly, making good time.
After quite some time she slowed to catch her breath, her stomach also growling in protest now. She frowned but knew from boy-scouts, some basics of deep-woods survival. Boy.. she thought again, looking down at her breasts, wondering just how long she would have to endure being this way.
She gave some though as to the most efficient way to find food and decided to keep eyes peeled for wildlife and edible plants, what few she may find. Another two hours passed as she finally started to clear the woods, entering the plains, not spotting any edible plants or game.
Andrew thought at this point it would be a good idea to try practicing flight. She spotted one higher than average hill at the edge of the woods and made her way over to it. At the summit, if it could be called that even, a good twenty feet above the ground below she flexed her powerful wings and prepared to fly.
Andrew almost had it earlier when she had leapt from the nest and with over confidence charged forward, sprinting into the air, flapping, and then screaming, an inhuman screeching sound, crashing to the ground in a flurry of feet of feathers, rolling down the remainder of the hill, coming to a stop on a grassy spot at least.
She lay there flat for some time, just looking up into the blue sky before standing again. Andrew was about to head up the hill again to practice when she heard a loud, barking laugh coming from the edge of the woods. Squinting she could just make out someone leaning against an old oak at the top of her hill, arms crossed.
Climbing back up she was met by what appeared to a vulpine in light, forest tone clothes, bow and quiver slung around his back, paw, if you could call it that, resting on the hilt of a dagger. "Haha! I take if you're new here" he said with a wide grin.
Andrew remembered glancing through the different characters on the selection screen, briefly checking the vulpine race out. They weren't well liked in the world, notorious thieves and mischief makers, driven from their homeland years ago. Wanderers and nomads, whose motives and goals were rarely made known.
She ignored his query and responded simply "who are you and why are you here?" He didn't lose the smile but changed his tone a bit "my, my, cutting straight to business aren't we", standing from the tree and bowing gracefully, "my lady, my name is S'am, at your service" he spoke in high speak, surprisingly intelligent for this region which the game said composed primarily of pheasants.
"I am wondering but what are you doing here? Were you following me?"
Andrew said calmly, now curious about this fellow and what he was up to. Perhaps he could help though, she thought with some hope finally.
Breaking from the bow and palming his dagger, balancing the tip on one paw playfully S'am responded "I am on an errand for my people but yes, I have been following you ever since the path junction a mile or so back. Traveling can be quite boring at times and you caught my interest. Well, this did too..." he says, holding a small money pouch in one paw, Andrew notices which looks oddly like... "Hey! That's mine, give it back!"
He laughs again, bouncing back on large digigrade paws "now that's not very nice, you haven't even introduced yourself yet, nor explained what a beautiful creature such as yourself is doing in these parts. It's quite unusual you know, to see a harpy anywhere these days." He ponders this, scratching his muzzle with a black furred paw "Tell you what lil lady. Tell me why you're here and you can have your money back. I'll even guide you into town if you'd like" he says with a smile, dangling that bag in front of you off his claw.
Oh that's right, Andrew thinks to herself, remembering something else about vulpines. These creatures are renowned for their information gathering skills; the only reason they're even tolerated in any major city.
