He rode a snow white camel, a scimitar slung on one side, an AK47 on the other, and a book in his right hand while his left rested on the camel's neck.
Janice felt his coming a long time before he was visible even to angelic senses, in Tabra's alarm.
"Who is this? Why are you so alarmed if this mountain is protected?"
"I haven't seen him since the crusades."
Tabra teleported to a position in front of the man on the camel. The man, who Janice immediately recognized as an angelic being, spoke "Greetings in the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate, who created men and angels from a drop of blood."
"Greetings, Jasim."
"Ta-abra? New look for you?"
"Yes."
"And a double spirit as well?"
"Yes. Why are you here?"
Jasim's face became briefly contorted with rage. "Did you really think a whole village of the Faithful could cry out to Allah as they saw their children transformed into monsters and we would take no notice of such a thing? Did you think we would not notice that your little 'pilot project' was not in the lands of the Christians, or even in the kitsune's" he turned briefly aside to spit "native land, but in the heart of the Dar-al-Islam?"
"He's a Muslim? A Muslim angel?" Janice asked. "I'll explain later." Tabra replied. "It's complicated."
"I came here to see what you were doing about it, and I find nothing as this monster takes over more and more of the Faithful. What do you plan to do about it, Tabra?"
"I'm training new angels, former victims of Karther who have attained the angelic state, to take on the kitsune's armies."
"Training? As the kitsune's empire grows ever larger?"
"It won't be much longer."
"A few raw, newly trained angels, against that?"
"Angels, Jasim, angels. You know the power of angels."
"Hear me, Christian. We are losing our patience. If you and your new angels can take on the kitsune in the next day, we will aid you--but if you cannot, we will handle him our way, with an army of ten thousand djinn. What will not happen is more of these endless delays."
Janice felt Tabra's heart skip at the mention of the army of djinn. She instinctively knew that a massive clash between djinn and kitsune would pretty much be the end of project return, as well as a catastrophic failure on Tabra's part.
