I grew a couple of inches taller. My clothes expanded to fit my new size, except for the sleeves on my shirt, which retracted until they were nonexistent, showing off the fact that I now had some actual muscle definition and a tan.
I could see my face changing. It's hard to describe exactly what happened -- some small changes added up to me becoming a more handsome version of myself. The blush and lip gloss darkened a bit, and I realized I was also now wearing eyeliner, eye shadow, and mascara.
My hair grew longer, down to my shoulders, and then feathered itself.
The changes didn't end there, though. The bathroom started rearranging itself around me. The walls grew outward. The countertop changed to a dark marble. I could see in the mirror that the bathtub was enlarging.
Finally, I could move again. I gawked at the changes briefly, but then I heard a strange wail from a distance. It sounded like Caroline.
The bathroom door wasn't where I was expecting it to be. I had to go past the new, giant shower stall, and walked out to find myself in a completely unfamiliar bedroom.
Caroline was standing at the other end of the large room, next to a large four-poster bed with what appeared to be satin sheets on it. Her outfit had changed -- she was now wearing an off-one-shoulder sequined dress with a skirt that was slit up to her thigh on one side. Her face and body also seemed to have transformed as mine had, including wavy hair that reached the middle of her back, and she now looked more or less like a Playboy centerfold.
"What's going on?" she asked me, her eyes open wide.
"I couldn't wash the makeup off, and then this change happened," I said. "You know who I look like, I realized --"
She finished the thought for me. "Dave and Adam, last night. And I look like the Rhodes sisters. They were wearing clothes like this."
"So either they were behind this, or they were just affected first," I mused. "And I hate to say it, but this definitely seems like magic."
"Or a sufficiently advanced technology that's indistinguishable from magic," said Caroline.
"I guess," I said, "but --"
I didn't finish that sentence, because there was a knock at the door.
