Lina could hear an odd noise in front of the Master's shop, it was an odd whirring sound. The Master was laughing as he proceeded to wrap the shrunken candy girl in blue cellophane, and he failed hear the sound made as a blue box materialized in the alley next to his shop.
The tall thin blue box had the word police written on it, and a flashing blue light. The light stopped flashing and the sound stopped. The door to the box flew open, and a lanky man stepped out. He was looking at a device in his hand and talking to himself.
"I'm sure I registered an output of Gallifreyan energy from this location, but now it's stopped."
"Well, maybe you should've brought Sarah Smith or perhaps Adrick or even K-9 with you instead of going solo."
"No, I've had enough of sidekicks for a while," he replied to himself, "But I'm sure this is the general location."
"You think it's the Master, don't you?"
"Well, don't you? Don't I?"
"Well, we saw the Master die, remember?"
"We saw Davros die more than once too, and he came back."
"Point taken. Still it could be the Rani or some other Time Lord who survived?"
"Survived," the doctor said sadly, he knew he was the last of the Time Lords.
"Excuse me, but have you seen a couple teenagers around here?" said a chipper young voice.
The doctor turned toward its source. The young person was wearing a bicycle helmet, but walking a bike. He did his best not to notice the person, as he didn't want a new sidekick, and whenever he chatted up people he seemed to get one. Not after what happened with Donna, he thought. He looked away and stuck his hands in his pockets.
"Are you deaf or just extremely rude? I asked if you saw my friends, I saw them from over the next hill going into a shop," the young bicyclist said pointing up the road. The road rose to a hill, then another hill rose beyond it. "I was cycling up on the far hill, and I saw them, but my chain broke as I was coming up the second hill, and they were gone when I got to the top. So I'm not sure which shop they disappeared into," the person explained.
Angrily the Doctor turned, and shouted, "I'm not deaf. I'm a bit preoccupied. Important stuff don't you know. I didn't see anybody on this street, I didn't see you until you interrupted my train of thought!"
"I'm sorry I derailed your train, mister," the cyclist replied with sincere regret.
The doctor felt bad about his harshness, and said, "Sorry, I need to work on my people skills. I'll help you find your friends."
