Jeff looked over the many different forms of liquid pre-programmed into the machine. There was almost every liquid anyone could think of. Water, liquid nitrogen, bleach, tanning oil, almost anything. As Jeff examined the list, he could think a few himself that weren’t on the list. At the bottom of the page of options sat a small button that read “Scan New Liquid.”
The young boy though deeply, giving the list another whirl, picking out the odd liquid in his mind, trying to think which would be fun to transform himself or somebody else into. While he reread the list, he pulled a soda out from his mini-fridge and absentmindedly drank from the ice-cold can. Cola. Jeff suddenly sat bolt upright. Cola. He spun the tracker wheel on the mouse until the list scrolled up to “C.”
“Carbonic Acid”
“Chlorine”
“Detergent”
There was no “Cola” option... There was no “Soda” option (Unless you counted “Water, Soda”)... Jeff didn’t really want to be turned into Cola, of course, but he had never really tried scanning an inanimate object with the Chronivac. On top of that, he couldn’t help wanting to be different. He clicked the “Scan New Liquid” button and waited for a response. After a spectacular, but almost blinding, lightshow several new windows opened, listing the liquids in the room. Jeff closed most of them, stopping at the one which was unmistakably his can of soda, minus the can. He blindly clicked various drop down menus until he came across an option which allowed him to upload the soda as a new liquid. After some clicking and typing, “Soda” became an option.
Jeff took another swig of his cola, licked his lips and said to himself, “Sweet.”
Now he just needed a subject to transform. Or maybe he’d try it out on himself?
