"I can't be stuck as a ghost!" you say and then put your head in your hands. You begin crying as despair overcomes you.
"What if one of us gave her our pill?" Jackie asked.
"That won't work" Ryan said. "The pill would just go right through her body."
"Well we have to do something" Jackie said.
"There is nothing you can do" another store employee said coming around the corner. "She is the only one that can remedy this now."
"But the pill's gone" you said in a whiny voice.
"Are you sure about that?" the employee asked.
"Well I put it in my pocket but this skirt doesn't have a pocket" you said. "Please help me."
"I can not help you anymore than I have" the employee said. "Your friends however can guide you to the solution if they're smart enough."
"What's that suppose to mean?" you ask.
"I think it means that we can tell you where we think the pill is without coming right out and telling you" Anna said. "You know I think I may know where it is."
"Where do you think it is?" you ask.
"Well I think you know where you put it" Anna said.
"Of course I know where I put it" you said. "I put it in my pocket but this skirt doesn't have pockets."
"How did you get that skirt?" Anna asked.
"I bought it when we went shopping last week" you said. "I don't see where this is going."
"So if you bought it last week how could you put the pill in your pocket?" Anna asked.
"I was wearing pants when I came in" you said. "That was before I was transformed and reality altered."
"That's your problem" Anna said. "You're thinking like a boy. Start thinking like a girl. Where would you put something if your skirt doesn't have pockets?"
You thought about it. Where would you put the pill if you didn't have pockets? You think that you would give it to one of your friends for safe keeping but that wouldn't help you and the employee made it sound like you still had the pill. So where else would you put it? You feel your purse slipping off your shoulder a bit and you absentmindedly reposition the strap. It suddenly hit's you as to where you put the pill. "I know where it is now!" you say with relief.
"Where?" Jackie and Ryan ask at the same time.
"It's obvious isn't it?" Anna asked as you open your purse. "It's in her purse."
You open a side pocket and sure enough there was the pill. You take it out and look at it. You realize though that you have nothing to wash it down with. "How am I supposed to swallow this?" you asked.
"You could dry swallow it" Ryan suggested.
"There is no need for that" the employee said. "Just put it in your mouth and it will work right away."
You had no reason to think the employee was lying so you popped the pill into your mouth. As soon as it touches your mouth it disappears. You feel the tingling and your weight returning. You look down at yourself and see that you're opaque once again. "Well I'm back to my normal girl self now" you said happily. "I think I've had enough of this store for one day. Let's buy our candy and get out of here."
You didn't wait for them to reply and started to get an assortment of the Halloween candy making sure to get plenty of the chocolate ghosts so you could change back. Then you went back to the jelly bean section and bagged up an assortment of them. As you go up to the register to pay for your candy you see a day of the week pill box but the tops were blank. You look at it and see that it's for the jelly beans. The tops will change to show which jelly beans were in each section. You pick up three of them and pay for your purchases.
You notice that Ryan and Anna have paid for theirs. You think that there's something missing when you feel a tug on your skirt. You look down and see Jackie there holding bags of candy. You slap yourself and say "I'm sorry Jackie. I forgot about you."
"That's ok" Jackie said. "I know that you were a little freaked out thinking you would be trapped as a ghost. You of me as Jake and not Jackie."
"I guess I'm not a very good babysitter" you say with a giggle.
"My memories say that you are" Jackie said. "It will take us a little bit to get used to our new gender and roles."
"Yes it will" you said. "We just have to be careful not to slip up too bad."
"On that note I need my allowance to pay for my candy" Jackie said.
"Just put it up here and I'll pay for it" you said. "It's the least I can do for forgetting about you."
"Thanks" Jackie said as she put her candy on the counter to be rung up.
After paying for the candy you head out to your car with Jackie right beside you. Ryan and Anna were going back to her house to try out the candy moons and some other candy.
You buckle Jackie into the booster seat you have, put the candy in the trunk, and get in yourself. You start your car and drive home.
