You're a straight A junior in high school. You're someone who really stands out from the crowd. That's something worth noting, considering that the high school you go to appears to be the only school in America that follows the model of "clique-filled and harsh" that one sees in those damn teen movies. Among the groups of stoners, jocks, goth kids, that group of rednecks that sit outside and absentmindedly scratch their stomachs as they talk about the corn prices or god knows what, and all the other cliques, you're a unique entity.
This is partly because of your own choice. You've always felt like you've been above everyone, ever since you started getting amazing report cards in the fifth grade. You've never really gotten a sense of empathy for your fellow man. You've had a sense of elitism, for no real reason. Even when people have attempted to befriend you, you've pushed them away. You've been friendless up until this year, and you're determined to keep it that way.
The final period of the day has just ended. It's the most blessed school day of all, Friday! The sense of elation you feel carries you forward, towards the parking lot.
