Telling Most of the Truth

added by Maree Happy 20 years ago A

Upon return to the farm both Matt and Franky sood anxiously waiting to hear what happened to Stormy the Welsh pony stallion.

"Good news and bad news boys! First he was not slaughtered, but he was sold to a carny circus. We've heard of the circus but don't have a foggy idea where it is right now," said Sid.

Stormy Matt was relieved and sat down with his head in his hands. While Frank junior laughed and joked about what that poor circus just paid out good money to get.

In a flash Stormy Matt jumped up a hit Frank junior in the chin with a good left cross. A tuffle started and the two boys struggled on the front steps till Frank pulled them apart.

"Sid now that we know Stormy is alive and since Matt and Franky are not on good terms I suggest you both head home in the morning," suggested a angry Frank.

As Frank senior was getting ready for bed Frank junior walked into the bedroom.

"Dad can we talk a minute please," asked Franky.

Sitting down on the bed Franky asked, " Matt has a real kindness for Stormy's dam! I watched him talk to her and she snuffled him a lot. If I didn't know better I'd say he knew her and she knew him?"

Frank senior began to sweat and Franky quickly noticed it.

"Well son it's a very long story which I would not feel too bad if you called me a liar. My father worked in a circus doing a magic act of some renown. He was very good and one day he went to a estate sale of another great like himself. There he bought a ebony wooden wand with a crystal orb at one end. It was just beautiful, like nothing else. My dad used it in his act for many months till one day four tough guys came to rob the show. Dad was scared since we didn't have much money and the payday was to be that day. Well as the story goes he stood up to those four big muscular men and held up the wand. He ordered them to stop and drop the lute. Well they turned around and told him they weren't some fool work horses they were a gang of thieves. Dad shook the wand at them, the orb glowed and the men fell to the ground. Your uncle Sid still has the wand to this day."

By this time uncle Sid stood in the doorway listening and wondering how much of the story Frank could or would tell.

"Nice story, but what has your father got to do with Stormy," asked Franky.

Frank stammered and cleared his throat several times.

"Go on Frank you spilled the beans this far answer the boy," said Sid.

"Well the men fell down and over a hour or so changed from men of four Percheron colts. The circus manager put them to work pulling wagons and they stayed as horses the rest of their lives, right Sid!"

"Yup true all quite true," said Sid.

"Oh horse shit you two are full of it, that's some stupid bed time story and oh you guy's," yelled Franky.

"No Franky it's more than true it's real and I can prove it come down stairs," said Sid.

The three plodded down the dark stairs and to the livingroom. Frank stood almost knowing what to expect. Franky plopped down in a chair with a long face.

Sid reached into his tote bag and removed the wand. "This is what made our live a hell of a place to live back then. Our father was terrified to use it again after making those men into horses."

Franky stood up and looked at what his Father had discribed so well.

"I wish that for tonight Frank junior should sleep in the stable as a stallion pony just like his old pal Stormy," said Sid, as Frank senior smiled.

Franky began to moan and watched in quiet horror as his body changed quickly to a black Welsh pony. Once the change was complete Frank and Sid walked the stud out to the stable and put him in Stormy's box stall.
