As you head to your locker, a realization comes over you, what will you dress in? You've grown to the point where you can't even wear your old clothes. But you receive a surprise when you open your locker.
A jersey with your name and number in your new size sits atop a pair of jeans and sneakers, also big enough to accommodate your new mass. Judging by the confused comments arising from other parts of the locker room, your teammates must have found similar gifts. Coach Zeb sticks his head out of his office, "You've got the new 'sponsors' to thank for that gear, the principal wouldn't want you walkin' outta here in the nude." You don't like the way he said 'sponsors', there's something really wrong happening here. You were just an average high school student this morning, but now you feel like you could tear a phone-book in half with your pinkies.
As you leave the locker room, another problem comes to mind. How will anyone recognize you? This morning you were clean shaven, but you have a bushy beard and your once close-cropped hair cascades halfway down your back in a thick mane. As you head to class the younger students shrink back in fear at the brutes walking down the halls.
Your next class is English, and you can see two other guys from the team settling, awkwardly, into the desks. They don't seem to be concerned with what happened at practice, but every other student in the room is trying to stay as far away from you bearded behemoths as possible. You have a few friends in this class, but none of them recognize the new you, or are pretending they don't know you.
Finally, Ms. Shearlington, the teacher arrives. She became a teacher a few years ago, fresh from college. As she calls the roll she seems unsurprised when you and your altered teammates answer your names, but a chorus of confused whispers explodes from the back of the room.
"That can't be him."
"I saw his a few days ago and he was a beanpole."
"How can a beard grow in two hours."
"I shoulda' joined the football team..."
"Enough," the teacher yells, "We have to discuss what this class in going to be like in the year ahead."
She goes on about the syllabus and what books you're going to read, but you wonder why the teacher didn't react to the team's change. You start to think that maybe something big is going on here, and you should look into it at the first chance.
