As Lucy's mom started the van and her dad climbed into the passenger side, Lucy suddenly felt really strange. Sitting there, wanting desperately to change back, she tried to pin point the reason she felt strange, but for some reason her mind wouldn't cooperate.
As the feeling grew and grew and Lucy realized that this was not her body reverting back, she leaned forward and announced, "I feel funny."
Turning around, her mother looks at her and a worried look crosses her face. Reaching back and taking Lucy's hand, she asks sweetly, "Funny how, sweet heart? Funny like you're going to be sick?"
"You don't suppose that she's changing back," her father asked.
Lucy squirmed around in her booster seat and shook her head. "It feels like the time I think I first changed, but more ticklish. I don't know, more pink maybe."
Lucy's mother and father shared a worried look between them and then her mother began to undo her seat belt, saying to her father, "I think we should take her back inside, just in case she is turning back into Luke."
She looked at her mother and told her in a determined voice, "But I'm not changing."
Her father shook his head and also began to undo his seat belt as well. As Lucy's parents both got and her father started to open the side door, the strange feeling intensified. Looking at her father, while her mother came up behind him, Lucy stated defiantly, "I am not changing."
Her father just reached in and began to help her out of the booster seat. Picking Lucy up and balancing her on his hip, he looked at her mother and said, "She is changing. Is it just me, or does she look younger?"
Her mother put her hands over her mouth and gasped. Lucy tried to say something, but her mother drowned her out by saying, "Quickly, bring her in the house."
Taking Lucy in the house, her father set her down and said, "I'll call Uncle John." and disappeared.
Lucy's mother looked at her and told her, "Just hold on sweet heart. We'll find out what's happening to you now." and taking Lucy's hand, began to lead her into the kitchen.
Passing a mirror and seeing what she thought as her normal three foot six, five year image she looked up at her mother and once again stated, "I am not changing. I am just fine." In fact, she was right because the odd feeling has dissipated completely.
Letting her mother sit her down at the table, Lucy idly swung her feet back and forth. After a bit her father came in and he started to have a quiet conversation with her mother. Sliding off the chair, Lucy walked over to her parents and pulling on her mother's coat hem, she asked, "Mommy. What are you and daddy talking about. Did I do something wrong?"
Her mother looked down at her and squatting down in front of Lucy, her mother said, "No honey. But mommy has a question for you. Do you think you can answer it?"
Lucy nodded and said, "Uh-huh."
Smiling, her mother said, "That's my girl. Now, do you know anybody named Luke?"
Lucy shifted back and forth, wondering what all this was about. Finally looking at her mother, Lucy gave her an answer to the question posed.
