Guy and Sara instinctively backed away from the werewolves and toward each other.
"Now what?" Sara hissed.
"W--" Guy didn't finish his response because he suddenly felt strong arms around him, then he was airborne.
He looked down at the werewolves howling, charging and leaping. A claw scraped the sole of his shoe as his unseen benefactor carried him into the air. He inclined his head to see Sara, and was relieved to see that she too was flying. In the darkness, it was hard to distinguish what was carrying her. Guy looked down at the muscular legs wrapped around his waist. They were definitely male, and they were very hairy, but they were surprisingly cold.
"Uh, th-th-thanks?" Guy asked his unseen benefactor, not entirely sure if it was his benefactor.
"You are most welcome, human," came a deep rich male voice.
"You're not human?" Guy whispered.
"I'm not a werewolf either," laughed the masculine voice heartily.
"That's a relief, I thought this whole island might be populated by werewolves," Guy confessed.
"No, sadly we do have a particularly bad infestation of werewolves on Pleasure Island, but there are many much nicer inhabitants at this gateway to the Underworld," the voice explained breathing heavily, "I'm going to have to land soon, I am not used to carrying this much extra weight."
"Is it safe?"
Darkness had swathed the ground below, but the echo of the werewolf pack echoed through the night.
"Safe enough, the werewolves won't dare enter a vampire's keep," the voice said as he descended to an ancient tower window.
Guy was silent, but his lips moved silently mouthing the word "Vampire?"
Guy felt hard stone under his feet as the vampire landed inside the tower. Seconds later, he was reunited with Sara. They fell into each other's arms. They turned to behold their benefactors who stood framed by the torches that lit themselves as they landed.
