The next day, the restaurant had its official opening. People were mesmerized by the beautiful smell of the food coming out the front door, but unlike Jamie and Carla, were not morphed into animals. They ate their meals and left unscathed.
The manager waited to nightfall, the restaurant open for its last hour of the day. The restaurant was bustling with activity. Waiters and waitresses zipped around the dining room servicing the booths and their occupants. There were people of all types: a six-pack of middle-aged couples, a group of business associates communicating their ideals, a married couple with a boy and a girl, and a group of five college-aged friends just get seated by a waiter.
"What are you guys having?" Jane- brunette- asked, sliding into the middle of the semi-circle bench.
"I saw steak over there." Mike- tall and blond- said, letting Kelly- dyed black hair cut short- slide in beside Jane before him.
Jane's face lit up, "Oooh. I like steak!"
"I think I'll have steak, too." Kelly commented as Mike slid in beside her.
Less- brown hair buzzed, glasses- came in from the opposite end of the semi-circle with Danielle- long black hair, Latino, and tall- behind him. Less seated himself beside Jane, "I don't know. I didn't come to fancy restaurant to eat something I've had a thousand times before." Less checked the menu, "Rabbit! I'll have rabbit. 'Always wanted to try it."
Danielle shrugged, "Steak seems good to me."
Mike chuckled, "Less is the outsider."
Jane looked at him and grinned, "We must shun him."
The group had a good laugh, except for Less.
