You decide to finish your walk, and so you continue on down the street. The rest of your evening is completely uneventful, up until you hear someone talking from behind you.
"A bit late for Halloween, isn't it?"
You turn with a start, calming down when you see that it's just another person out for a walk of his own. He looks to be a different sort, though - he's wearing what looks to be a rather expensive suit, particularly for someone wandering alone so late at night, and his long, untamed blond hair makes a strange match for his attire. Most of all, you notice his eyes, his glare piercing into you even when he looks away, as though he's staring at you regardless of the direction he looks in. It's rather unsettling.
"I said, isn't it a bit late for Halloween?"
"Hallow... oh." Your eyes glance over to the bunny-shaped rubber shoe - you'd forgotten you were even wearing it - and you shyly hide it behind your other leg, your face red with embarrassment. "It's just... it's a long story. Look, I-"
"Need to go? Of course you do. And really, I didn't mean anything by that question, it's just odd seeing someone wearing something like that this time of year. Besides, a rabbit's paw fits you - you certainly seem like the sort to bound off towards the nearest hole at the first sign of trouble." He looks down to his wrist, an apparently gold watch on it. "Well, looks like I need to be going as well. Be seeing you."
There are so many things you want to do to this man as he casually walks past you. You want to give him a piece of your mind for that insult he just threw at you. You want to ask him what he means when he says he'll "be seeing you". You want to ask him who the heck he is in the first place. But somehow, you can't find the words for any of it. You can hear his footsteps, their nonchalant pace fading into the distance, and you want to follow him, but it's like you're planted in place, too stunned to do anything but listen until you can no longer hear him. By the time you manage to shake off that strange trance, he's long gone and you're left alone, just a short distance from your home.
