Kirk wanted to find a kid that was in his situation when he was a kid...yesterday. He wanted to show Andy just what had happened to him. They walked by the city park and sure enough, there was a kid, about 12 or 13 sitting on a swing looking down and pissed. He was kicking dirt with his shoes.
"Hey, this kid looks like he needs help." Kirk said. "Hey kid!"
"What?"
"You look a little down. What's the matter?"
"Why should I tell you?"
"Cause maybe we can help you." Andy said.
"How? You two aren't a couple of weirdos are you? I've heard stories." The kid looked suspicious.
"No, we just saw you and you look down in the dumps. Why?"
"It's my dad. He always pushes me around ever since he and my mom divorced."
"Kid, I know just how you feel. It feels like I was in your shoes yesterday."
"You were." Andy laughed.
"Shhhh!" Kird scolded.
"So why are you askin'?" asked the kid.
"You see this? What's your name?"
"Billy."
"You see this voucher Billy? This can keep your dad from ever pushing you around again."
"How?"
"It'll make you a man, and your dad a boy. All you gotta do is touch him with this voucher. And I'm going to give it to you."
"You're crazy."
"Try me." Kirk said. "Take it and try it out. If it doesn't work, then all you've got is a piece of paper. If it does, you come back to the park and show me what this voucher can do. Is your dad home?"
"Yeah."
"Go on and try it."
As soon as Kirk finally got the kid to run off with the voucher, with hopes of growing into a man within a minute or two, Kirk grabbed Andy by the arm.
"C'mon. I'm gonna show you what happened to me. We gotta follow that kid."
They followed Billy to his house and watched him go inside. Then, they crept up to the living room window, where they saw a man of about 30 lounging back in a recliner, nursing a beer. They watched as he scolded Billy for something, then Billy took a deep breath and touched the voucher to his dad's arm. Andy waited for what seemed like forever to see what this was all about. Then, the changes began.
