There came a knock at the door. Josh went to answer it.
It was Marco, Mr. Mendes’ boyfriend.
Josh closed his eyes, and silently swore.
“Where’s Mr. Mendes, Josh?” he asked politely.
“Uh, I don’t know for sure; he’s probably somewhere around here,” Josh lied. “Would you mind waiting while I look for him?”
Marco said it was no problem. Josh practically fled the room.
Just after Josh went to the front door, Ric heard a knock at the back door. He went to answer it.
Mr. Mendes locked eyes on the open book.

It was lovely Elise. Ric’s brain stopped working properly.
“I figured there was no time like the present to help you out—especially since you’re letting a toddler run around naked.”
“Uh, sure,” Ric said, smiling.
When Josh entered the room, he quickly noticed two things. Mr. Mendes was no longer on the bed; he was nowhere to be found. Guess he didn’t want to be seen
by his boyfriend while stuck as a baby, Ric thought.
