Dan walked into the locker room and walked over to his locker, in the back. He already found one of his teammates and friend, Nate, changing. Nate turned to him and smiled, offering a quiet hello. Dan figured he was as good of a place to start. Nate had a thin, slightly muscular swimmer's body. He would make a fine merman.
Dan pulled out the spell and read it under his breath, directing it towards Nate. However, he was dissapointed when nothing happened. He watched as Nate pulled up his red speedo over his pale white ass and exited the locker room with his towel over his shoulder. Dan quickly changed and followed.
He entered the pool area just in time to see Nate dive into the pool. It was early yet and the pool area was still deserted. He watched as Nate swam back and forth doing laps. Dan started to notice a change in Nate. His legs were getting darker in color and appeared to begin to fuse together, starting at the feet and moving up, eventually ripping through his speedo swimsuit until he had a full tail, covered in small dark green and brown scales. Nate quickly realized what had happened and swam back to Dan and pulled himself out of the pool.
"This is impossible! What happened?!" exclaimed Nate, looking at where his feet used to be, replaced by a large tail.
"It would appear you are a merman," responded Dan, with a smile on his face.
"I can see that, but Mermen don't exist," replied Nate, still sounding worried. "Let alone did I think I *was* one. Grab my towel. I have to dry off...no one can see me like this...please!"
Dan felt bad for Nate. He tossed him his towel. Nate quickly dried off and sure enough, his tail shrank back and reformed into his two legs.
Nate stood up, wrapped the towel around his now naked midsection and walked back into the locker room to change again.
After practice, Nate caught up with Dan.
"Dan, I thought you should know I resigned from the swim team. I was never that great, well, until my most recent development, but I was hoping I could count on you to keep my secret," asked Nate.
"Of course," responded Dan.
"I have to admit, part of me is thrilled by all this. I've always had a love for seafolk, especially mermen. To think, I was one all along. It explains so much..." responded Nate. "See you around!"
Nate wandered off into the crowds of students. Another person changed, possibly for the better. Who was next, and what would they become?
