Kat's mother sat on Kat's bed, and pulled the covers over Kat. She flourished with her wand and then stowed it in a deep pocket. "Ok girls, wake up."
Kat's friends woke, and started slowly stretching and clearing their eyes. "Kat wanted to tell you all something today, but now that the time has come she doesn't think she's up to it. So it falls to me. She wants to thank you all for making yesterday and last night so fun. All the more so because last night was her last night as a girl." The girls looked shocked, except for one who was still too tired to process information. "When we asked Kat what she wanted for her 18th birthday she told us she wanted to be a boy.
"At first we thought she was joking, but she wasn't. The reason she didn't tell any of you was that she didn't want her time as a girl to end awkwardly. She wanted everything to stay the same until the moment she switched."
One of the girls spoke up, "She said Dan was a crossdresser."
"Did she now? Well that's true. When Kat told us she wanted to be a boy, that gave Dan the courage to tell us he wanted to be a girl. Kat was nice enough to give Dan a lot of her clothes and his new life begins today too. I think Kat was a little jealous though, she thought Dan was stealing her idea."
One of the girls laughed nervously. None of them seemed to know what to make of what they were being told.
Kat's mother gestured to the blankets covering Kat, "As you can see she isn't quite ready to face you all, but it is my fondest hope that when she is you'll all accept her. Even if she isn't a girl she's still your friend." She stood up, "Let's all clear out and give Kat some time to herself."
The girls picked up their things and left Kat's room. They all said goodbye to the form under the blankets. Before they left the house Kat's mom asked the girls, "Would any of you be willing to do me a favor?" They asked what she wanted. "Since Kat's going to live as a boy now there's no one to teach Dan how to be a girl. I could teach him -her- to be a 1970s girl, but what he -what she needs is a crash course in being a modern girl. Could one or two of you help Dan get adjusted? Take Danielle under your wing, so to speak."
