“Kat, turn him back now. You realize what you’re doing? He’s not changing physically but also on the inside. You’re changing the very being he is” The father said, with a surprisingly helpless expression. Kat never had seen that face before.
“I can’t dad, I…” Kat stopped, she had used a spell that was a one-way ticket. Once he was done changing, which was near there was no return to humanity. The mother gasped, realizing what kind of spell she had unleashed on Dan.
The mother also took blame, partly giving her the powers to Kat without proper teachings which magic spells are harmless and which are not. Depending how you cast a spell it determines if it’s reversible. As a rookie witch Kat had used the easier spell that only worked one-way and unless very advanced counter-spells were cast there was no chance for Dan ever returning to a full human.
Still, Kat did not realize how severe the situation and only was afraid what punishment she would undergo.
Dan’s resistance had become like a small cord with a heavy block of weight attached to it. It could snap any moment leaving only the donkey. However, even if the cord snaps, there’s always a part of the cord left behind.
For Dan that cord was his essence, his soul. Although heavily altered it was still him even if he thought was a carefree donkey pet which foresight in grazing was a nice one. Not to speak to the jenny’s he could cross and have some pleasure with.
“Can’t you do *something?*” Father asked toward his loving wife who was trembling, a lot and only stared in the eyes of Dan that looked far from which they ever had been. As she was staring she saw how the last of his humanity left him and he brayed, wanting to get out and go back to the barn to eat something.
“I-“ She swallowed deep and closed her eyes for a brief moment and tried to calm herself down.
“There is one thing, but…” She saw how Dan became inpatient and moved closer to Kat. Dan couldn’t remember that she was his sisters and that those thin two legged tall beings were his parents. The only thing he knew was that those beings were kind and gave him everything he needed. However, currently he was far from happy to be here in this room.
Kat started to stroke through the hair and sighed.
“Yes?” Father’s expression became hopeful. Anything to bring Dan the human back was worth a shot.
“The idea is that Dan mates with a Jenny, before he did that though I must have cast a spell on Dan that will transmit his essence to the unborn colt, or when we are unlucky a filly; Since his essence then will be in a body that hasn’t been put under magic I can restore his mind. Changing him into a human though… is even harder.”
“However, Dan is now a colt himself, almost a adult donkey but still too young too mate. We have to wait at least one year before we can do it.” Mother sighed and stroked the fur of Dan as he nuzzled at her shirt.
