I felt dizzy suddenly, and Mary screeched and clutched me tighter. We settled a few inches, and when I looked around I could see we were lying in the middle of a large bed. The room wasn't anywhere I recognized, and for a few minutes I just clutched Mer to me and trembled.
I'd made the wish without thinking, without even really considering what might happen. We seemed to be okay, which was a blessing, but the power of the ring was starting to scare me.
"Oh my god Steve, are you okay? You're holding me so tight." Mer tried to raise herself up to look at me, but I shifted my arm higher, keeping her pressed tightly against me.
"Not going to loose you again." I muttered into her hair.
"You're not." she whispered back "I'm not going anywhere." She turned her head to the side and settled against me. "This is nice," she murmured, "we should get a bed like this when we get married."
I was looking around the room a bit more and froze staring at the closet. "I think we just did."
It took a minute for Mary to react. Her eyes snapped open and her voice grated. "What?!"
"I think this must be our bed--" I broke off looking at her glare, then brought my left hand up to wave in front of her face. "Look; no ring, not married yet." I let my hand drop to the comforter. "But some of the stuff from my room is in the closet there, and I don't own any dresses so some of it must be your stuff. I--I think your Changer just gave us a wedding present."
Mary turned at stared at the closet before sitting up. "That's my prom dress, and a bunch of my clothes. She turned to look at me wonderingly. "Did it change everything, or just us?"
I sat up and rubbed my head. "Beats me, let's figure out where we are before we worry about anything else."
