Charlene and Andrew sat on the living room couch, holding hands as the young kitsune explained the choice before them and made his offer. The two exchanged glances, then Charlene turned to their visitor.
"We thank you, and we thank King Tommy for offering to reverse our transformations or provide a new home for us among his foxpeople. But no. We don't want any more transformations, and we don't want to move to Kitsune city. I love my husband and I love my home. And in this new world, being foxkind isn't a great problem. The elves have returned to Britain, did you know that?" She smiled. The most important reason was one she wasn't going to tell the visiting kitsune, decked out in the uniform of a member of king Tommy's diplomatic service. It was still something very private between herself and Andrew.
The eager young kitsune began to make another attempt to persuade the two to move to Kitsune city, but a look from Andrew silenced him. He took his leave.
"So we are what we are, then? Forever." Andrew declared. He rubbed his wife's expanding belly. "You're going to be a wonderful mother."
