Jen fell asleep while Paige researched the internet, looking for answers. She woke up much later; it was dark outside. Her head was laying in Paige's lap, and the other girl was idly playing with a lock of Jen's hair. Which felt very nice.
"Someone's awake."
"Mhm...but I don't want to move." Which was very true.
"Silly, you don't have to. You missed my Dad, but I thought it best not to tell him I had a girl in my bed. He's a little old fashioned that way. So! I have some information. It all goes back to 50's; a rich girl named Jessica Calver pulled a dangerous prank, a hazing, on a freshman girl, who drowned. It was all covered up, but little did they know, but the girl had an older sister, Dana."
"Dana was a small thing, so she looked a lot younger than she really was. She enrolled in the high school as a new student, and managed to get close to Jessica, becoming her 'pet'. I'm sure you know what that means."
"...I've really been a horrible person." Jen felt tears coming.
Paige tugged at Jen's hair. "Shh, none of that, you're my girlfriend now, and I don't go out with horrible bitches. So that means you aren't one, understand?"
"Yes...mistress." Jen smirked.
"Ooh, Mistress, I like that. Does my Jenny have a little submissive in her?"
Jen thought about it, and nodded. "I guess so. I'm really twisted, huh?"
"Years of denial and repression, dear. Don't worry, Paige is here now, you're going to be just fine."
"Ok. Um,...go on?"
"Ah yes, well it turns out that Dara got invited to Jessica's big birthday party. Jessica had a favorite party game, guess what it was?"
"Oh no, Truth or Dare?"
"Bing-go! She made everyone play, boys and girls. So eventually Dara ended up in a dark closet with Jessica. And so the legend goes, said the following:
My Curse Upon Ye, Slayer of My Blood! By the Life Ye Took, the Most Precious Thing, I Curse You! Transform or Dare!"
Jen shivered.
"Yeah. Well Jessica was scared, but like all rich girls, she wasn't going to back down to anyone. They say she came screaming out of the closet, grabbed the first person she saw, and said "Transform or Dare!" to them.
A lot of kids turned up missing that night, and the survivors were too shocked to tell the police anything useful. The usual culprits, drugs and Satanism were drug out, but nobody ever saw Dara or Jessica ever again."
"That doesn't help much..." Paige put her fingers to Jen's lips.
"Shish, not done yet. The curse jumps around, as you know, but there's got to be lots of times where it stops dead. Like say you got transformed into a statue. Or maybe after so many times, it loses power. But it's said if you go to the old Calver house in the dead of night, and go into the closet, a voice will say 'Transform or Dare'."
"Oh God, is that how Kyle got the curse?"
Paige nodded. "Probably, and there's no telling what he was cursed with...but that trick with the ring probably let him fix his curse."
Jen got an idea. "No, I bet it didn't. That's why he hasn't gotten the ring back yet. The curse is stronger than the ring!"
"Makes sense, beautiful. Huh, so you mean my cheerleader girlfriend has a brain in her pretty little head?"
Jen smiled. "Guess so. Or you're rubbing off on me."
"Could be? Well ok, so how is the curse stopping him from getting the ring back?"
"Not sure, but I bet that's it. I also bet if we go to the Calver house...he'll be waiting."
Paige thought about that a moment. "Get up, love, I need to find something."
Reluctantly, Jen rose, her hair a bit frazzled from having lain in Paige's lap so long. Paige rummaged through drawers and finally came up with a pre-paid cell phone. "Hard to trace, and perfect for a 911 call."
"Oh Paige, I could fuck you right here."
"And you will, dearie...later."
