As Linda wandered toward the living area, where the door to the balcony was, and the source of the crash, she saw that part of the window in the door panel had cracked.
"That must have been some blow." She scratched at the crack a little and muttered about the cost of replacements. "I suppose I should see what's gone and done it, and hope it hasn't wrecked my meager floral attempts. whatever it was."
She opened the door a crack, and as she did so, a shrill noise made her shake hear head, she looked, but did not see anything. She pulled the door closed quickly. The glass was frosted, so she could not see what was making the noise, just that it was a small moving object and it appeared to be brown. 'Foolish,' she thought 'Its probably just some sparrow or something what's flown into my door.'
With a deep breath, she opened the door all the way. She could hear a fainter version of the shrill noise, and a huffing as the door was obviously pushing whatever it was behind it. She had to be careful then, to make sure she got outside without crushing it, yet still be able to open the door as needed.
