Carrie wrote her father's name on the envelope, then folded the note and put it inside. Next, she cleaned up the mess made when Judy's drink had fallen, being careful to sweep up and throw away the broken glass.
Then, she got a large, padded envelope from a box in her father's closet. Still using Judy's handwriting, she addressed the envelope to Mark Johnson, Judy's boyfriend, and stuffed into it the clothes Judy had been wearing when she'd turned into a pen. Finally, she wrote a letter to Mark:
MARK, HONEY!,
I'M LEAVING DULL OLD NORMAN AND COMING TO LIVE WITH YOU! HERE ARE SOME CLOTHES AND A PEN TO REMEMBER TO WAIT FOR ME BY. (THOSE ARE USED PANTIES ;>) .) YOU'LL SEE ME IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS.
YOUR SWEETIE,
JUDY
Putting the pen and letter in the envelope, Carrie sealed it and walked down to the Post Office that was two blocks away. She sent the clothes, the note, and Judy off to Mr. Johnson first class. She considered insuring it, but decided Judy wasn't worth it. As she walked back home, Carrie smiled to herself.
She wondered where Judy would be when she changed back, stark naked.
