Choices

added 14 years ago O

Clay looked upward at the moon, trying to shake the image from his mind. But he kept seeing himself in the lake and the reflection shifted to that of a five or six year old girl. Shaking his head, he told himself, "No way. That thing possibly cursed my best friend," but this thought was in vain as it felt like the lake was calling.

Turning away, he told himself over and over that the answer was no and reminded himself of what was happening to you. Pacing back and forth, Clay noted on his watch that it was about nine o'clock.

Walking toward the park, still playing with the hem of his shirt, Clay suddenly realised how hot it was and thought to himself, "Feels like a hot August night," as he began to lift up his shirt without really giving it much thought.

He caught himself and pushed his shirt down, frowning on what he was about to do. Turning about, he closed his eyes as he once again looked at the lake and them slowly began to walk back to the lake, telling himself, "There was no reflection. This just a normal lake. But then again, what is happing to my friend if this is a normal lake? And what is with this park?"

On the lake edge, something he approached with half squinted eyes, he opened then fully and gazed down at his reflection and thought, "There! It's just and ordinary lake."

His satisfaction turned to dismay as the reflection shifted to that of the young girl once again and Clay began to pace back and forth, telling himself, "This is crazy. Magick lakes that transform people? Only in stories. This is crazy. I should go. But that lake looks so inviting. Man, what's my friend going to say if I dive in? Probably laugh at the fact we're in the same boat now."

Clay continued to pace back and forth, the internal dialouge in his head keeping him busy. As he went over and over the reasons to swim and why he should not swim, he began to first kick off his shoes. Then his socks. Afterward, he began to undo his pants and slowly strip off his shirt.

Wearing only his underwear, he looked both directions, decided that it was awfully hot out, and dove into the lake.

The water was cool and refreshing and felt like nothing he had ever felt before. Flipping over onto his back, he began to paddle lazily about in the water. Ducking under the water, he swam back to shore, the consequenses of what can happen if you swim forgotten for the moment.

On shore, he picked up his clothes, noted that it was odd that he was wearing black underwear with Hello Kitty printed on it, shrugged and began to get dressed.

It didn't hit Clay until he was halfway through the park what he had just down. Pants, socks, shoes and shirt damp from touching his body, Clay asked himself, "What the hell did I just do?" Scared, he began to run.

Outside of the park, he thought, "I can't go home. It would be somehow wrong," unaware that his underwear had fused with his shirt and was slowy turning into a girl's one-piece swimsuit.

Upset because of his lack of willpower, Clay turned away from the park and began to walk away. Turning back around, wondering how he is to face you, noting the time was about ten, he reentered the park and began to wander; hoping that he could find an answer to both yours and now his predicament.
