Unexpected but not unwelcome

added 14 years ago O

Its dark inside the house. The room I'm entering appears to be a kitchen and in the middle of the room I can see a big, black cauldron. The steam coming off it seems to be dying down, it hasn't been used for a couple of hours. I can tell by the smell it produces that it was used to cast a spell of unholy sight. If the witch has been watching my approach this could all be over very soon.

My eyes adjust to the darkness and I notice a large hanging cage, like those used for keeping birds, is behind the cauldron. Within lies a figure, perhaps the Princess but its too dark to tell. I edge my way across the room, careful to watch my footing as a mistake or clamour now could cost me everything. It is the Princess. I am quite relieved if I can free her we can be out of here without even confronting the witch. I try to find the lock to the cage but its far too dark. I could conjure up some light but that could alert the witch.

I don't know what to do. I hadn't thought much about freeing the Princess, I just assumed there'd be plenty of time for that after I dealt with Morgana. I guess I could ask the Princess. She'd know where the Lock was and if it had any magical seals placed on it. Unless of course she simply woke up in the cage. Still two heads are better than one and I'll have to wake her anyway. I reach into the cage, hand trembling. I've never touched a Princess, I-I kind of feel bad for waking her actually. I rub her shoulder gently and speak her name. She stirs. Then I hear her voice for the first time.

"Wh-Who's there? Why are you here?" she whispers and I reply in a hushed voice.
"My name is Klaus. I'm a...I'm a wizard" I don't say I'm still in training. She probably thinks of wizards as poor mans sorcerors as it is.
"You can't be here! Do you know what will happen if you are caught?" She talks like a mother scolding a child.
"I came to rescue you. If you could just show me," but she cuts me off.
"Well, I thank you for the sentiment but I really think you should leave before..."

A door on the far side of the room opens. A silouhetted figure stands there. She looks like a shadown against the candle light in the hall behind her. A hand raises sparks and explodes into a green light. She fits the description of Morgana alright. Tall, dark... buxom. Beautiful as any Princess, deadly as the most poisonous of spiders.

The wand above her head lights the room. If I'm going to do something now might be the best time. I mentally kick myself.I knew exactly what I'd do if i got the jump on her before I entered the house but now my mind is blank. I run out of time and she makes the first move

"You don't look like a Prince." She says. Even now whilst not knowing anything about me and the power I (potentially) posess she sounds in control. I open my mouth to speak but am beaten to it.

"He's not!" cries Princess Sara, "He's just a simple wizard. I don't think he's even fully trained." Well I obviously give off the right impression.

Morgana frowns. She looks disappointed. "I don't appreciate strangers off the street barging into my house," I start to tense up this could not be going worse. What was I thinking coming here alone?

"However," she continues, "I've had a rather pleasant day and you look harmless enough." Its probably the fact I'm literally quaking in my boots with fear.
"Would you care to join me and the Princess for a midnight snack?" she motions over to a rectangular dining table with two seats either side by the front door I entered. A pleasant smile across her face makes me feel like I just stepped into another reality. I notice the light of her wand has changed to a warm orange too as if to welcome me. I doubt she'd let me leave if I wanted to though. I finally get to speak without interruption and it comes out a high-pitched mouse squeak.

"Yes...That sounds... wonderful, madame" she covers her mouth and chuckles before waving me over to take a seat and I do, taking the seat nearest the doorway. The cage unlocks itself and Princess Sara hops down. Not very lady-like but I'm sure she's just glad to be out of the cage. She looks a little sad but flashes me a smile as she sits across from, her back against the wall. I better not read to much into that smile.

"So tell me young man. Are you always so bashful or is it just the presence of two shockingly gorgeous young woman, hmm?"

"Uh, a little of both" I answer Morgana. She's opened a cupboard above the sink and placing plates in front of me and the Princess, who is yawning, hand over her mouth. Its a strange thing to see a Princess yawn. They always seemed so... angelic that i never really thought of them as having human needs. Her royal upbringing shines through as she thanks Morgana for her plate though. Manners are an important part of her life I guess.

"Isn't he just adorable, Princess?"
"Yes, he's quite the charmer," she says nonchalantly. I don't know if its because of me or Morgana being friendly to her captive.
"Now cheer up Princess. We have company, don't offend the young man" the look on the Princesses face tells me she's sorry. I smile back as if to accept the unspoken apology when Morgana sits beside me with...
