The pair didn't adapt immediately well to their new situation. They were mostly kept inside all day, in seperate stalls. Dan hated the oats they had to eat. Kat hated having to go to the bathroom in the corner of the stall.
Every so often, they would be taken out into the fields with the other horses. Sometimes, their parents would visit them when they were out. Other times however, Dan and Kat just sat around with the other, normal horses.
A few days into their stay, Dan noticed Kat acting a little wierd. She kept looking across at one of the big male horses, which would sometimes sniff around her. Dan felt a little different though. He couldn't be sure, but he thought he was maybe developing feelings for Kat. He was trying to put such thoughts out of his head, but he was an animal. Living the equine life was giving him similar thoughts.
One day, when their parents were visiting, the farmer discussed "breeding" with them. Kat seemed disgusted on the surface, but Dan thought that inside she probably felt a lot different.
