Paige practically skipped next door, reality thingamajig in tow. Jessica Lindsey lived next door, with her two daughters, Cassidy and Rook. Jessica was something of a financial wizard; she'd made her first million by the age of 25, and was on the fast track to becoming the CEO of a major investment firm when she had gotten pregnant. She chose being a parent over her career, and now she was closing in on 40. She still looked pretty good, and while she was no longer in the business, she gave advice, and didn't have to do much real work, as she'd invested her money shrewdly.
Rather than let her kids become spoiled, Jessica maintained an upper middle class lifestyle, with a large house in the suburbs; she'd divorced her husband after Rook was born, tired of the jerk's attempts to live off her money.
When the doorbell rang, she was suprised to see Paige. The girl had taken the loss of Zane hard. She wasn't sure she appreciated the relationship Zane had with the younger girl, but Paige was a good, smart girl, and her own girls loved her.
"Paige, honey, it's been awhile. Feeling better?"
Paige nodded. "Yeah...tired of crying all the time. Can I come in? Just needed to talk to someone."
Jessica smiled. "Sure, of course."
The two got to talking, while Jessica made them some iced tea. Paige sighed, her friend was so much older now, there was little common ground for them. Well no problem, she had the cure for that!
She zapped Jessica while her back was turned, but when the light cleared...
