I woke late in the morning, the sun was already shining down on the pair of us and the morning dew had already started to dry up. I lay quietly next to the doe and tried to keep myself under control while I sorted out what was happening.
It was useless to wonder why the ointment had decided to make me a buck instead of molding me into a perfect human mate for a woman in the town, the fact was that it had. Assuming that it worked as advertised, it would wear off after one or two more nights. I had to make it that long as a buck to become human again.
I just had to survive any hunters or predetors, and pray that the old Chinese man wasn't lying to me when he told me this stuff was temporary.
With a sigh, I stood up and started to browse the forest floor for something to eat. I was already eating the brown grass before I realized what I was doing, and more than a little surprised that it didn't taste bad. It didn't really taste like anything, actually.
The doe finally woke and walked over to me, sniffing and grooming my fur, a gesture that I returned. It wasn't long before her powerful scent began to fill the air and my thoughts started to fade under the power of the instinct.
For a long moment, I felt myself at a crossroad of sorts. Should I make a run for it and just hide until this wore off, or stay and just give in to it?
