...Out the corner of her eye Jen caught a flash of movement, spinning round in her chair she couldn’t see anything and went back to the reports… only to see another sudden movement on the other side of her.
She turned to face her bookcase, where the last movement had been;
“Hello?” she said inquisitively reaching for a paperweight on her desk, “Oh god please don’t let it be a mouse…or a rat!” she whimpered to herself as she approached the shelving. Moving a couple of books tentatively, paperweight raised, she felt a rush of wind by her foot and screamed falling over backwards before getting up and standing terrified in the corner of the room.
There was another movement on her desk, by her computer screen which promptly flickered and died. “Oh god oh god oh god…” she knew screaming for help wouldn’t work Matthew and Clarissa were in a meeting downstairs and the P.A.s had their own office at the end of the hall, which was 3 sets of soundproofed fire doors away from where Jen now stood.
She gingerly walked towards her desk, keeping her eyes fixed on the computer for any signs of movement and the paperweight raised ready to strike.
She froze stiff when she heard what sounded like a quiet laugh behind her, “H-h-hello…?” she whispered, terrified to make a noise. Whatever was it was, Jen didn’t want to be in here with it much longer, and started preparing herself to run for the door.
As she straightened herself up she could hear the sound of insect wings over the roaring of her own breathing. Spinning around suddenly, she came face to face with a small naked woman floating at Jen’s eye level using a pair of butterfly wings on her back.
