Mary had fallen on her ass in front of Jess. Jess moved to help her, but Mary put up a hand to wave her off. "It's...just the vial...going to work," she said, pausing whenever she felt sudden shifts in parts of her body. "Weird...it wasn't this...fast..la-a-ast time..."
Jess covered her gaping mouth with one hand, backing up slowly. As she watched, the white fur on Mary's arms and legs spread, covering all exposed skin. Mary's socks tore off as large cloven hooves emerged from what had been her feet.
"Ack," Mary said in a wavering voice. "Huh...hurts." She fumbled with her skirt, her fingers warping and merging together. Finally, she tore off the fabric with a loud rip, revealing a thickly furred crotch and waist area. Her panties were barely visible under all the wool. The reason for Mary's discomfort became clear when a white tail appeared from behind her, writhing on the carpet as her changes continued.
"He-e-ead! Urrgh! He-e-eada-a-ache!" Mary clutched her forehead with white hands that now only had three fingers. Thin horns slowly grew out from her fluffy silver hair.
"Mary," Jess said, trembling. "What's happening to you? Your voice? Are you really okay?"
As the horns finished growing, Mary tipped back and sprawled on the floor. She was panting heavily.
Jess tip-toed to where Mary lay. "Mary? Please say something." She knelt down next to her, being careful not to step on her flowing hair or twitching tail.
Mary looked up at her with tired, but satisfied eyes. "Sorry to sca-a-are you. I didn't expect such...a big cha-a-ange."
"Your voice. It even sounds like a goat," Jess said, finding herself amused despite the shock of seeing her friend transformed.
"I...fe-e-el like a goat," Mary said, her eyes drifting around. Jess could see that her pupils had become horizontal slits. "It's we-e-eird. Body's so furry. And my ta-a-ail. It's...it's even hard to think about stuff. Bra-a-ain's kinda...simple."
Hearing Mary remark about her change was putting Jess at ease. She knew, however changed, it was still Mary inside that freakish body, and she wasn't in any more pain.
"Simple-minded. Yeah, that sounds like you," Jess said. "Who else would drink weird potions they found on their doorstep? C'mon, I'll help you up." Jess extended an arm. Mary looked at it for a moment, then lifted her own hand up. She examined its new appearance, flexing her fewer, thicker digits and turning it around. The nails on each fingertip were thick and black as night. Finally, she grasped Jess' hand and began the ordeal of standing upright on her new hooves. It took her several seconds to figure out how to keep her balance, but her tail seemed to assist her greatly in the effort.
"Thanks," Mary said when she finally found her footing. "So...pre-e-etty cool, huh?"
"I...suppose," Jess said, not sure if she should tell Mary she didn't find goats the least bit appealing. Or any half-animal freak, for that matter. "Do...do YOU like it?"
Mary cocked her head and two white-furred goat ears popped up from out of her hair. She looked down at herself, hands smoothing the fluffy fur on her thighs. Her ears remained skewed at odd angles, indicating she was in deep thought, and struggling to find her answer. "Yeah," she said. "I don't...LOVE it...but it's a-a-a nice feeling...to be somethi-i-ing different."
Jess gasped, then chuckled. She pointed at Mary's face. "I just noticed...you've got a little bitty beard there!"
Mary pinched the fur on her chin. It was a two-inch clump of fur that dangled from the very edge of it. The hairs were light enough to wave around with each move of her head. She narrowed her eyes at Jess' incessant giggling.
"La-a-augh all you wa-a-ant," Mary said. "But i-i-it's your turn no-o-ow."
