… Decided to take a bath. Martha was cooking dinner when she got in and figured she’d have enough time to relax before coming back downstairs for food.
“Hi everyone!” she called as she made her way upstairs, her mother, father and sister all responded with a quick “hi”.
She walked into the bathroom and drew herself a bath, removing her clothes she made sure the water was just the right temperature before she lowered herself into it. Enjoying the feeling of the warm water on her body she lathered herself with soap and laid back to relax for a while.
“For the third time…Jen? Dinner, right now!” her mother’s voice on the other side of the door woke the teen. “Shit, I must’ve fallen asleep!” she said to herself as she quickly raised herself out of the now much cooler water. “Coming mum!” she called back as she let the water go and grabbed a towel from the rail.
Wrapping a towel round her hair in the customary fashion, Jen took another towel and started to dry the rest of her body. Having rubbed herself thoroughly all over, she became slightly confused when she still felt really wet, as though she hadn’t dried herself at all. Thinking it was a combination of the speed in which she was trying to dry herself and the humidity of the bathroom she decided to keep trying to get herself dry.
“JENNIFER SMITH! YOU GET DOWN TO DINNER RIGHT NOW!” her mother’s voice called from the hallway.
“I’m coming!” Jen replied, now frustrated with the fact that she couldn’t seem to get dry. Deciding that it was the room and that she didn’t really have time to get dry properly she grabbed her bathrobe and put it on, pulling at the sleeves as it stuck to her still very wet body.
“How can I still be this wet?!” she thought to herself, bemused by the fact that she still wasn’t making any progress into getting dry.
As Jen left the room she noticed that she didn’t feel the familiar chill associated with leaving a warm bathroom, in fact she felt quite comfortable. She also noticed that she was leaving soaking wet footprints as she walked to her bedroom, “Shit! Mum’s going to kill me!” She said to herself, quickly grabbing a pair of slippers and putting them on her soaking feet. As she bent down to pick them up the towel on her head fell loose and dropped to the floor with a splat.
“Oh my gosh!” she said, looking at the towel that was completely soaked, it looked as though it had been held underwater. “Was I that wet?”, not quite believing it she also came to the realisation that her hair was still as wet as it had been when she got out of the bath and drops of water were now running down her neck.
Suddenly her bedroom door opened and her mum walked in, “Jen?! What on earth are you doing? There are wet footprints everywhere! Sometimes young lady you make me so angry… Get downstairs and get some dinner, you can clean this lot up afterwards!”
Her mum held the door open for her to leave, Jen grabbed another towel from the bathroom on her way past and wrapped in around her head again, the fact that she was so wet was starting to worry and frustrate her.
When Jen sat down for dinner she felt her robe beneath her squelch with water and had to place her feet under the chair to stop a trickle of water that was leaking out from under her hitting the floor and drawing attention to her predicament. Holding her cutlery was also difficult as her hands were still drenched.
She managed to eat quickly and excused herself in order to get back to her room and continue trying to get dry. Closing her bedroom door and leaning against it she quickly removed her robe and towel and looked at her naked body in the mirror, she looked as though she’d just gotten out of the bath, still! Over half an hour later!
“What’s happening?!” she said out loud, running her hands over her wet body, picking up another towel from her closet and desperately rubbing herself all over, anything to get dry!
“JEN?!” her mother’s voice from outside the door, still angry, “I told you to clean up this water!”
“In a minute!” she called back, removing her sodden slippers and trying to get even her feet dry. Suddenly the door opened and her mum walked in…
