"Hey," Sue said, "you want to work on that biology homework?" when Shawn opened the door and invited her in.
"Um, it's not due until Monday."
"Yeah, but we can get it done now, and then not have to worry about it."
This is odd for Sue, Shawn thought. She's usually not that anxious about homework.
"What's really the problem, Sue?" he asked as they sat on the couch in the living room.
Sue looked at him for a moment. His sincerity made him really cute, especially with that concerned kitten look on his face. "My brother's being an ass again, and I just need to get out of the house."
"Oh. Well, we ca work on that Biology, but I didn't bring my book home, and you can talk about it if you want."
"I've got my book and the assignment."
"Ok, why don't you go into the dining room and we can use the table there. I'll get us a couple of glasses of lemonade."
When Shawn left the room, Sue grabbed her backpack and went into the dining room. Pulling the biology book and the gun out of the pack, she looked over the gun. She noticed a blue button on the side of the barrel with two bars on it, similar to the pause button on a MP3 player or DVD player.
"What's that?" Shawn asked, coming out of the kitchen with the two glasses.
"It's a toy gun I found in the park on the way home," Sue replied, pressing the blue button.
Sure enough, Shawn froze mid step. The lemonade sloshed slightly in the two clear glasses.
