A Game of Change

Two for One

added 15 years ago BM

"Alright! I rolled a 6." Tiffany moved her piece up to meet Jen's piece on the board. "Hi, Jen," said Tiffany, as she tilted her piece toward Jen's in little bow.

"Heh heh," Jen chuckled, as she inwardly thought about loosening her bra.

Tiffany picked up her card and began reading:

Your avatars have meet face to face,
they occupy the same single space.
Till end of game or till forever,
you both shall grow close together.

"What do you make of that," Jessica asked aloud.

Molly stood up and backed away from the board. "You guys, there's some seriously bad mojo surrounding this game. I think we should all stop before something bad happens."

"Oh, lighten up, red-bush," said Jen, purposely using her pet-name for Molly which she always hated. Molly blushed a few shades darker than her hair.

Lauren sat with her legs to one side, pouting. "You guys, I'm BORED. When's it gonna be my turn?" She picked up the box containing the blow-up love doll and swirled it between her middle fingers idly.

Just then, Tiffany stood and looked dazedly in Jen's direction. "Jenny," she said, as if dreaming, "come 'ere, I've got a secret to tell you." Jen smiled broadly, ::Jackpot:: she thought. Jen had always wanted Tiffany to get flirty with he at a party, since, if everyone was drunk, it would be easy to explain it to Molly as just "one of those things".

Jen, still seated, put her hand to her ear in an exaggerated gesture. Tiffany stumbled over to Jen and knelt beside her. "Here it comes," though Jen. Looking into Tiffany's eyes, Jen could have sworn that they flashed an ominous red as Tif grabbed Jens hand roughly. "Whoa, not so rough," Jen said, playfully. All expression drained out of Tiffany's face as both women's hands began to merge together, as if their flesh were warm butter. Jen began to struggle, at which point, Tiffany regained her senses and began to scream. The other women began to crowd around Jen and Tiffany; all except Molly, who cowered behind the half-wall of the nearby bar.

"What the hell are we seeing?" asked Wendy, as she wheeled as close as she could to the scene.

"It's like their hands turned into silly putty," said Lauren, already in tears.

"Hmm...silly putty. Simple, but appropriate, Juggs," said Jen. Her rude tone failed to mask the rising note of fear in her voice.

Michelle shrieked. "Oh, my god, should I call 911?"

Molly, the most calm of the group at this point, approached the huddle at the coffee table. "I don't think that would do us any good," she said, in a tone that commanded authority. The other women turned and looked up at her as the produced the rulebook from behind her back. "I've read the first few pages of the rulebook. It's actually pretty short, and I'm afraid I have bad news. I was right to be afraid of this game. It's magic and carries a powerful curse. As you play, the cards you choose change your body and mind. Once the game has started, the must be finished, or the changes become permanent."

Upon hearing the word permanent, Tiffany began to cry. Jessica handed her a handkerchief from her suit-coat. Without thinking, Tiffany tried to reach for it, bringing Jen's arm along for the ride. At this, Tiffany simply cried harder. "Oh my god, you guys," she sobbed, "we're gonna be stuck like this forever". Jen raised their mutual hand-stump to add emphasis.

"Not necessarily," said Molly, "That's the good news. When we finish the game, everything should go back to normal and the winner gets to make a wish."

"Cool," said Wendy, already dreaming of shedding her chair.

"Well..sob sob...hurry up and someone roll," said Tiffany, "I can't wear my wedding dress with Jen attached." She looked to her left and said, "Oh, sorry Jen, no offense."

"No problem, buddy," said Jen, as she elbowed Tiffany in the side. To both their surprise, their arms turned goopy and merged up to the elbow. "Shit! Seriously, one of you bitched roll already," Jen said, the playfulness was completely gone from her voice.
