"...you tell me your name first," she said.
"Sure," I said. "My name is Dave Rosenthal."
"OK, Dave," she said. "My name is Melanie."
I replied, "I know. I actually wished I knew it when I wished to know your address."
She shook her head. "Well you have certainly had the advantage of me, so far." She stood up and paced in front of the couch. "So this ring can do anything?" she asked as she continued to walk back and forth.
I answered, "As far as I know, but like I said, I haven't really tried it much."
"Well, let's test it then," she said as she stopped pacing. "Since you're willing to make it up to me, let's see what can find out. I want to you to wish that you will answer my next question as truthfully as you can."
I furrowed my brow in puzzlement over why she made such a request. But that was OK with me, as I wanted to live up to my promise. "I wish that I would answer the next question you ask me completely truthfully."
"Great," she said as her face lit up slightly. "Tell me, Dave, how attractive do you think I am?"
Uh-oh, I thought. I didn't even time to think about this. How would my answer sound? I took the time to finally look her up and down and gave my answer. "I wouldn't say you're a supermodel, but I wouldn't say you're bad looking, either. Your hair appears to be full and healthy. You have a nice face that's real. You seem to be of average height. Your...um, breasts appear to be average size. Your figure is nice and it makes it look like you eat properly and exercise, take care of yourself the way you should. You don't seem to have any one feature that stands out, but that's not a bad thing, really. I would say that you probably don't turn many heads, but people would take notice of you in the right settings." She kept looking at me as if I had more to say. So I added, "I guess that I'd rate you a 7?"
She took it all in. "I'm sorry to have made you do that," she said, "but I really wanted to make sure I got honesty."
"I understand," I said. "I haven't exactly treated you that well."
She smiled a somewhat devilish smile. "That's OK," she said. "I thought of what you can do next to make it up to me."
I smiled a little back at her. "What's that?" I asked.
