The doll

added 14 years ago BM O

You reenter the bedroom and look around, unsure of what you should do. Pacing about the room, you think that you should wait for Issabella, but at the same time you want to get your clothes back and leave, feeling that you've already overstayed your welcome.

Walking over to the window, you look out, but are dismayed that it is still raining too heavily to tell what anything looks like three feet from the window. Turning back, you start to pace the room again.

After a couple minutes of this, you finally decide that maybe you should go and look for Issabella or even Madame Morphia. Walking to the door, you open it once again and step out into the hallway. Looking left and then right, you try to remember which direction you came from. After a couple minutes of deliberation, you choose the left direction and softly pad down the hall.

Around you are doors that are closed, but no turns that lead anywhere else. Behind you a door closes and turning toward the sound, you realise that the door to the room you were sleeping in has just shut. Worried, because all the doors look the same and you won't be able to find your way back, you tell yourself, "Might as well press on," and turning, you continue down the hallway. After about eleven rooms, you reach the first turn in the hall.

Pausing, you look down the new hall you've found, look back the way you just came from, look down the hallway you are in, think it is odd that everything looks the same and then turn down the corridor.

In a matter of seconds you realise that you truly are lost after you take another turn, hoping that it will return you to the first hall, reassuring yourself with the thought that it went back the way you had just came. Standing stock still you look up and down the hall, see another corridor, step into it and think to yourself, "The only way I am going to get out of this mess is to try opening some of these doors and seeing what is on the other side." Reaching for a nearby handle, you pull it open and stare at what is before you.

In front of you is oval shaped hole with bright light streaming through it. Poking your head through, you are shocked to find yourself in a room where everything is oversized. Twisting your head about, you think the wall with doorway looks a little like a dog house. Shaking you head, telling yourself, "Too weird," you pull your head back and close the door.

You don't try another door for awhile and when you do, you find yourself looking in at a woman's bedroom. Afraid that this might be Madame Morphia room, you hastily shut the door and continue onward. The next door offers some hope as you open it you find yourself looking at a stairwell going down.

Thinking, "If I go down, I might find Madame Morphia or Issabella," you take the steps two at a time.

Behind you the door closes and suddenly you are over come with vertigo. Unsure, you pause and then continue onward. When you come to the door, winded for some reason, you open it and find yourself in another corridor. Directly in front of you is a window.

Walking to the window and gazing out into the rain drenched torrent, you grown in dismay as after a couple of minutes of looking it becomes apparent that for some reason you have gone up a floor instead of down. Not liking the new predicament, you look back at the door and decide that maybe you shouldn't press your luck. Looking up and down the new corridor, you set on a direction and begin to walk.

After a couple of doors, you try the handle and gaze inward. Before you is another oversized room, with a gate of some kind stretched across the way about five feet from the door. And the odd thing, the longer you gaze into the room, the more you want to drop to all fours and crawl toward the gate.

Blinking, you slowly struggle to close the door and bothered by this, you tell yourself, "Maybe opening the doors isn't such a good thing," as you begin once again to wander down the hall.

After a couple minutes, you are shocked when you hear what sounds like children laughing and jogging to were you thought the noise was coming from, you pause as you look down a new corridor, seeing not a childe in sight.

Upset, wondering what you should do, you are suddenly startled as you hear a door open and then close. Judging the distance, you figure it was close by. Walking toward where you thought you heard it, you count the doors and when you get to nine, you decide to once again try one of the doors.

Opening it, you find yourself looking at what appears to be a little girl's bedroom. A large canopy bed is covered by a pinkish white comforter, while a large white dresser across from it, with a wardrobe next to it. In the center of the room is a pink and white plastic tea set, complete with cups and saucers. Sitting at the table is a plush mouse with a pink ribbon situated right next to its left ear and wearing a lavish ball gown.

Without giving it much thought, you enter. Looking around, feeling oddly comfortable here, you take in the white walls, the trim with pink hearts and the full body mirror. Looking into the reflective surface, you think that there is something off about your reflection...besides the fact that you are wearing clearly wearing pyjamas suitable for a little girl...but can't put your finger on it.

"Something about my hair," you think as you turn away.

Taking in the vanity, you open the wardrobe, curious about what is inside. Peering in, you see several dresses and a bunch of costumes for a little girl. Feeling like you want to look pretty and wear one of the costumes, you push away from the wardrobe, think, "Too weird," and decide to leave.

On the way out, you stop and collect the doll from the table without a second thought. Clutching the plush mouse, you step back out into the hallway, look up and down the corridor and ask yourself, "Gerald, what have you gotten yourself into?" All the while you hold the plush mouse in a rather motherly fashion, not realising what you are doing or holding.
