Jen followed Jack's instructions, and found the Venomancer Trainer beginning her lecture.
"...no matter which of the paths you choose, you can tame and train a pet from amongst the monsters out in the wilderness. Most of the native breeds can be tamed, but not creatures corrupted by the Wraith. If, or shall I say when, you tame a pet, you will be responsible for training it, teaching it skills adn keeping it fed. It is best to find a pet that you are compatible with early on, and stick with it.
"Now, let's go into detail about hte two paths a venomacner could follow. We have a special power you can all learn to master, the power to shapeshift into a magical fox. Your choice is this: you can learn to figh tthis way, as a fox, or you can stay as you are, and learn the magics of a venomancer. As a fox, you are tougher, stronger, and more accurate in close combat. With our other magic, you can strike from a distance, hitting with potent poison spells, ro summoning insect swarms on your enemies. Some of you would like to have it both ways, but I caution you, it takes a lot of time and effort to master either the close combat techniques of the fox form, or the potent magics of our humanoid form. You must decide which way you will go before you begin training."
Jen listens, amazed at what she is hearing. Change into a full fox, and use special close combat techniques, or remain as she is and learn to cast spells from a distance? And what's all this about a pet?
