President Pelosi gave a hard glare to her Defense Secretary. The Defense department, dominated not just by men but by macho men, had been by far the hardest to reorganize and get control of after the Change. Even now the President wasn't sure. How much information lay locked in the brains of four-star generals who were now baby girls? The new Secretary of Defense had literally been a secretary before the change--fortunately she knew enough to take over.
"Clearly, whoever is up there isn't picking up the phone. What options do we have?"
If the President was being honest with herself, her new sexuality wasn't helping. Not that she had any problem with lesbianism per se--she had represented San Francisco in Congress--but suddenly finding herself staring at women's chests and rear ends was throwing off her chain of thought. The breasts of the ex-men who hadn't regressed to before puberty were particularly disturbing. She sometimes wondered if this is what it had been like for Bill Clinton.
"Fortunately" the Secretary began "A lot of the Pentagon high-level IT guys weren't that macho--stereotypical nerds--and they only regressed a few years. Between them and the born-women, I think we've found the fail-safe. The guys who set up the mission--all of whom have regressed to babyhood, by the way--were aware of the possibility of the mission commander going rogue. As far as we can tell, the energy that produced the change stopped at the outer layer of Earth's atmosphere--meaning those are still men out there."
"I figured that if they had changed, they would have obeyed me. The last men in the world." The President mused.
"Anyway, there's a way to shut down the whole operation from the ground. Not the space vehicle, but the launch platforms. It's concealed as a Trojan in the main programing, and the tech guy they have up there isn't on the level of the ground IT guys that set it up. We don't think they're aware of it. Doing it won't disarm the bombs, but they should just float harmlessly in space with no way to be launched."
"Alright, shut it down. But don't do anything beyond that that might endanger the men up there. I want to bring them down. Whether or not they change when they come down here should tell us something about what's going on."
