Right as he was about to fall asleep, Ty realized something.
Something so obvious, he could not believe he had not thought of it before.
"Why on Earth am I trusting my current brain to keep the wishes under control?!" he exclaimed loudly as he bounced out of the bed, not caring if someone could hear him, "I can just wish it powerful enough!
"First things first, I'm to tired to think straight... I wish... I was as rested as I would be after an ideal night of sleep!"
No sooner had he completed the wish, than the need for sleep seemed to blow away.
A bit morning-groggy though, as though he had just woke up, he'd have to remember to avoid that next time.
Reinforced by his now-wide-awake mind, he sat down on the bed, and started figuring out just how to word this wish for a better brain, not wanting to take the chance of just jumping into it.
After a long while of considering pros and cons of each possible wording, he finally found one he was satisfied with.
Starting with running through it a few more times in his head to make sure he didn't mess it up.
He then made a brief wish for never to run out of air until the end of his next wish, causing his chest to feel slightly stretched, as though he had inhaled to the max.
This was going to be a long wish, and he did not want to take the chance of pausing.
It took a few seconds before he realized he was exhaling with no apparent effect, but when he stopped, he felt the normal desire for air, and had to start again.
He'd have to find a way around that, if he wanted it to be permanent, but it'd have to work for now.
Then he moved on to state, with a steady tone, and immense concentration at what he meant about each term, that, "I wish that my brain would, when I finish this wish, instantly become one whose capabilities at observational, spacial, logical, and intuitive thinking, as well as any other capabilities useful for avoiding mistakes during the usage of my power, are each improved to be equal to the human that is the best out of the middle third in each capability, without changing size or shape during the fulfillment of this precise wish"
Surprisingly little appeared to happen, although it did seem easier to think, and he found himself using a slightly more elaborate vocabulary.
But, he hadn't wished for any knowledge, just abilities.
He needed a test, but what kind...
