The footsteps seemed to be quickening and moving farther away from Brian. He was so afraid of being alone in the creepy woods he gave up on stealth. He had to find out what this being was, friend or foe. Brian began to sprint. He was really trucking, his thin but muscular body making it easy to move at high speeds.
All of a sudden, Brian turned a corner and smacked into the thing he was chasing. They both fell down. Brian cracked his head against a tree root that was sticking up out of the ground.
"Ow!" Brian heard. "What's the big idea?" Brian looked up. It was an elf female, slightly older than Brian and very beautiful. She was wearing elegant clothing, making Brian wonder what she was doing wandering in the woods, anyway. She had her hands on her shapely hips.
"Umm, sorry," Brian said, sitting up and holding the back of his throbbing head. Brian looked at his hand. It was covered with blood.
"You're hurt," the elder elf said. "Are you all right? What's your name?"
"Um, Brian," he said, getting to his feet, brushing himself off. The blood was beginning to stick to his long blond hair.
"Brian? That's a strange name. What clan are you from?"
Brian stammered for a second. "Uh, I, uh, I don't, err, I don't remember. I must have a spot of amnesia."
The attractive elf stared at him for what seemed like a minute. She was a bit taller than him, with long black hair and blue eyes. "My name is Elaenae. Why don't you come with me. I can aid you."
As an elf, Brian was finally starting to see Elaenae as drop-dead gorgeous. She was clearly wealthy and from an important elf family (clan?) Still, Brian couldn't shake the feeling that danger would arise if he went with her. His head was aching more and more, though. What was he going to do?
