ED'S POV:
I was staring at him and inside of his mind at the same time. I could see everything inside hsi head, as if I didn't already understand every inch of his mind. I understood his reticence, his god-damn boyscout attitude, but I didn't care. I had to have what I wanted. I began.
EDWIN'S POV:
I felt words come out of my mouth naturally.
"I have your athleticism. I have your strength. I have your manly beauty. But I don't have enough. I want more. I want all of it. All of your athleticism. All of your strength. All of your manly beauty. And most of all, I want your confidence. Your sense of ownership. Your view that by birthright you must be worshipped and adored. All of this will be mine. I will complete the circle.
Both bodies shuddered as the spell took hold of them both. Something began flowing from Drew into Edwin. Edwin felt himself sitting up straighter, puffing out his chest. He felt like a superhero. He felt he could own the world. He was everything, and Drew was nothing, a mouse.
ED'S POV:
It was working. My memories were changing. Images of me owning my life were filling my head. Suddenly I was no longer distracted by living out the fantasy I had so desired... I realized it was mine by right, incidental to dominating everything... and I wanted more... I flexed my magical muscles and my real muscles and stole more of Aaron's life force--he should gladly give it to me, and felt myself pushing the magic beyond the circle. Wasn't this what they warned me of? That magic corrupts and gets out of hand?
...who cares?
The words came out of Edwin's mouth.
"But I want more than that. I want your brother's greatness, your father's, your father's father's... I will be greater than any man you feel less than or ever have. I will draw from you everything but that you need to walk, talk, eat, sleep. I will be the greatest man you can possibly allow me to be. An athlete all long to challenge, but none can top. So strong, so muscled, so tall, but perfectly proportioned... and so, so beautiful. So heartbreakingly beautiful. I will walk among men and they will thrill to the sight of me, and I will know it and it will be mine."
That "long to challenge" line had been weird... had come out of the new persona that was forming inside of Ed, but who cared? It was almost over. He could feel the memories slipping away, already he was confused about where he was, what was happening. He held on as long as he could and broke Edwin and Aaron apart. The magic faded, but the disc stopped humming. It had been humming all alnog but he hadn't sensed it until now. The magic, he realized, was complete.
Yet the disc still felt alive...
"Edwin, listen to me. You will forget all of this. All of this is forgotten inside of you. You never met me. You had a freak growth spurt and became everything you are today. You will take Drew home and forget all about him, there is no need to think about him ever again. You will come home and fall asleep and dream your dreams of domination. Live your life, beautiful jock."
And with that, Ed faded away, and Edwin followed out his task.
