Thomas was struggling as I digested him. "Ssstop fighting, Thomasss," I said although I knew he couldn't hear me. "It won't do you any good, you're just going to get digested.
After a few minutes Thomas was still. I sighed in contement. It felt strange, yet quite satisfying to devour somone alive. I decided I may do that with my next victom.
"What the hell?" I looked, and saw a young man who I recognized as someone who frequently visited Thomas. I wasn't hungry but that did not matter. This man had to die, so he couldn't tell others about me.
I stared at him, working my hypnotic stare. He just stood there, as if under my spell, but something didn't seem right.
Never the less I slithered at him, and bit him in the shoulder.
Nothing happened.
I bit him again and nothing happened. The man just grinned, and stared at me; his eyes wer yellow with the verical slits ov a reptile. "Your stare does not work on me. Nor does your venom."
Right before my eyes, this man's arms retracted into his body. Shiny black scales formed across his face as his nose and mouth merged into a snake's face.
His body slid out of his clothes as hi legs merged into a long tail. I could tell at a glance he had no poisonous fangs, but that did not matter for he was twice my size.
I looked for a place to run but was cornered. Quick as lightning he wrapped his long body around mine, immobalizing me.
"I am a King Ssssnake," he hissed, "and am immune to your poissson. We protect humankind from the likesss of you."
He faced me and dislocated his jaw. The last thing I remembered as his mouth engulfed my head was something from my old high school biology class:king snakes frequently ate other snakes-especially poisonous ones.
