Archaeologists often pick up odd feelings from dig site. Rooting through people's homes, centuries after they're gone. It's just called 'the chill'. Everybody gets it sometime. I brush it aside and concentrate on the medallion.
Decorative medallions are fairly typical for this kind of site, which is why I was thinking about giving it to my crush. But this...
This is a new thing. A very new thing. It must be from a traveller who was sacrificed here or a very important person or something. There are markings here that I've never even seen before. That's a rare thing with my dad, the genius language expert.
But this mark looked similar to a stick figure. And this looked like a symbol of water. And I could work out a few other things.
It looked roughly like 'Something, element of water, something, man, something, a planet, something!" Maybe I could get a better translation if I tried looking around for some more markings. I put the medallion in a pocket for later work.
