Alex chuckled at Miranda. "You've got pink hair!" His voice was deeper, and he spoke with a goofy lilt that made him sound more like a cartoon character than a real person.
"And you're bald!" Miranda spoke with a squeaky Minnie-Mouse soprano. She reached over and poked him in the nose. HONK!
Alex grabbed a certain ribbon on Miranda's blouse. Pulling it made the blouse and her skirt fall away. "EEK!" she cried and covered herself as if she were naked-although she still had on her bloomers, petticoat, and a tie-died t-shirt.
A small wastebasket was standing right next to Miranda. She picked it up, pulled out the waistband of Alex's trousers and poured it's contents down his waist(luckily there was nothing dirty or sticky inside). Alex waddled around the room spilling trash out of the bottom of his pant legs.
Jaime could barely contain herself; her brother and his friend were just SO funny.
When she finally stopped laughing, she said, "All right. Now, the reason why I turned you into this was because Mrs. Johnson, the woman whose children I babysit for sometimes, is throwing a party for her daughter's seventh birthday tomorrow. Little Jessica wanted to have some clowns perform for her birthday but couldn't find any. So you'll be doing that tomorrow.Do a really good job, and I'll split the money with you-I'll get 70%, you'll both get 15%. Deal?" Both clowns nodded and honked their noses. "Good. Now you'll need some props for tomorrow, and I'm going to pick them up. Now be good and don't wreck anything while I'm gone, OK?" They nodded, and Jaime got up and left the room.
Jaime walked out to her car and drove off, pleased with herself. Getting the props wouldn't be hard-her boyfriend Tucker's family owned a novelty and costume shop, and he'd help her get what she needed. Her folks were out of town, and she'd make a call to Miranda's parents to let them know their daughter would be spending the night. While that would be a problem in most cases Alex was the kind of teenager most parents would trust to let their daughter sleep over at his house. Jamie knew some thought it was because her brother was gay. He wasn't; Jamie had seen the magazines of naked girls he kept under his mattress. He was just painfully shy in that department.
Back at the house, Alex and Miranda were sitting in his room. They looked at the Chronivac-and their clown muzzles widened into genuine smiles.
