Alisa became more and more sure that something wasn't right, complete with a feeling of impending doom, though she had no idea why. The serving wenches were friendly, constantly refilling the mead and stew of any of the new players, keeping everyone comfortable and happy. There was no reason for Alisa to feel that anything was wrong-but she did.
Alisa's senses suddenly went on high alert when she heard the door slam, and saw the head barmaid barring it. The other new players didn't seem to be bothered by the sudden blocking of their only exit from the room, but Alisa certainly wasn't lulled into the same false sense of security of her fellow players.
The serving wenches suddenly stopped, staring with smiles out the large windows of the west-facing room. Suddenly, the lamps and torches which lit the dining area extinguished, plunging the room into darkness. "Now, my new friends," the head barmaid said, her voice booming with a power Alisa hadn't noted before, "It's time for you to learn the secret of the Wolf's Lair tavern!"
As if on cue, the light of a newly-risen full moon poured through the windows. " And it's time for all of you to join the pack!"
