There was nothing special about Chewton, Oregon. A small town in the foothills of the
Rocky Mountains. It's population wasn't even 500. What WAS special about it was that it
was the home of one Theodore James Ursus. No one knew why or, more importantly,
how he was born the way he was. It was something previously thought impossible. Some
say it was an undiscovered disease. Still others say that his father experimented with his
fetus. After all, he did work for a genetics research lab. But no matter how it happened,
the fact remained that Theodore Ursus was his namesake, an anthromorphic bear. His
parents tried to raise him as normal as possible, but neither he nor any of Chewton's
citizens were stupid. He was mostly a bear. He was definetly different. At first, some of
the other towns folk were afraid. Afraid that he would be mean and uncontrollable or even
go feral and become a full bear. But after he had grown a bit, they realized he was
actually kind and gentle. Even nicer than some of the normal kids. He was smart, athletic,
and well-behaved. The adults eventually warmed up to him and he became affectionately
nicknamed "Teddy". He soon made many friends and even those that weren't respected
him. After grade school, "Teddy" was only used by adults and his middle and high school
nickname became "TJ". TJ joined the local football team, oddly enough the Chewton
Bears, in 5th grade and was quickly put in the starting lineup. In 7th grade, he started
dating Kate Thompson, a beautiful girl with deep blue eyes and long auburn hair to match
TJ's. They're still together today. Along with his girlfriend, his best friends are strong and
energetic Dan Jacobs and handsome yet shy Jack Brown. We pick up TJ's story, now, in
his freshman year of highschool.
