The genie (or djinni, if you prefer) was quite vexed. "Hmph", she said to herself. "Maybe it's not a woman he's looking for at all!"
She uttered a few words in the ancient dialect of her people, and aimed a curse at the boy.
Now as fate would have it, a young teenaged girl was walking in the opposite direction, and bumped into Donnie. He tripped, and the curse hit the girl right in the chest, sending them both sprawling.
The djinni smacked her forehead lightly. "SHAZBAT!"
Donnie helped the girl up, apologized, and dashed off (and out of this story). The girl shook her head as if confused, and kept on walking.
She was a petite girl, with short black hair and grey eyes. Pretty enough, but nothing spectacular. The djinni guessed her age at about 13 or so, but she could pass for younger due to her short stature and small breasts.
However, the longer the djinni observed the girl, the more she felt a strange warmth build up inside her. A goofy grin came over the djinni's face.
"That girl..." the djinni mused. "She's actually quite cute, I wouldn't mind getting to know her better." She actually licked her lips before she realized what she'd done.
"Ugh!" The djinni willed herself invisible and incorporeal (djinnies can do that). In this state, she lacked a physical body, which gave her a necessary reprieve from her raging hormones.
"Wonderful, I've cursed that girl to be attractive to women! And I just had to use a triple-whammy, so there's no removing it either! My old master said I needed to control my temper!" She swore in ancient Arabic for a few minutes, while floating behind the girl.
For her own part, the girl didn't seem to notice any change. She kept walking along. She might as well have been invisible for all the attention she got from the males along her route, but the djinni saw more than one girl take a second look as she passed.
The girl's name, for the record, was Brittany Chase. She never answered to her first name however, since people had a tendency to pronounce it 'Britney' (-shudder-). So she went by Chase (she wasn't too fond of her middle name, Camille, either).
Chase was a little down today because her next-door neighbor, Lina, had just moved into the dorms at the local college. It was only on the other side of town, but Chase had known Lina all her life, and the idea that she couldn't just drop by to see her whenever she wanted to was somewhat depressing.
And while she could always call, Chase knew that Lina wasn't going to have as much time for her. She kicked a rock as she reached the bus stop and sighed.
She was being stupid, really. She should be happy for Lina, this was an exciting thing for her. Chase forced herself to smile.
The djinni, watching all of this, silently fretted to herself. "I really should leave, but I can't help feeling responsible." She thought it over as the bus arrived.
"Well, I'll just watch for now, if things get out of hand, I'll step in." Having decided that, she felt better.
Unbeknownst to the djinni, her long years of servitude had given her a conscience.
